The satin stitch is a widely used embroidery technique worked in close, parallel rows. They are used to fill in all or part of a design. These embroidered imitations created in colonial India in 1920’s, copy Afghani techniques and motifs. Though Afghani embroidery is filled with examples of geometric designs, they also offer a plethora of motifs inspired from nature.
